I have spent my weekends refereeing youth women’s and men’s football matches for over a decade across Germany, Switzerland, and England. It is one of the most rewarding things I do — being on the pitch, contributing to the game at the grassroots level, and yes, the adrenaline of a heated match. Consent.Ed is a student-led campaign at LSE that trains students to help create a safe space for everyone on and off campus, free from sexual and gender-based violence. It brings together undergraduate and postgraduate students to engage openly with consent and active bystander behaviour. It is important work, and the training is worth your time.
